Who am I, and why should you hire me?
I have a confession to make: I'm a bit nerdy when it comes to the written word. My husband refers to me as "The Comma Commander." I'm just passionate about language! Being the type of person whose reading enjoyment is marred by blatant errors, I was inspired to offer my talents in order to help writers, bloggers, business owners—anyone!—be the best they can be when presenting their ideas in written format!
I have over 20 years' experience in the working world, in positions varying from legal assistant, development associate, transcriptionist, or analyst with a major tech firm. The common theme with every job has been perfecting written communication.
Additionally, I am a graduate of General Proofreading: Theory and Practice™ from Proofread Anywhere, ensuring I am highly trained to make your words the most professional, polished work there is! I am also a member of ACES (the Society for Editing).
I am more than a list of qualifications, though. I approach everything I do with integrity, compassion and understanding, and I want to make a difference in the world. In my spare time, I blog under the name positively b.e.e., where my mission is to disrupt negativity by promoting the positive things in life.
Additionally, I volunteer for Distributed Proofreaders, proofreading digitized works for the public domain according to a custom style guide. I'm an avid knitter, crocheter, and spinner, too. (No, not the bike workout—I make my own yarn using a drop spindle or spinning wheel!)
And of course, I love to read! My favorite genres are cozy mysteries, inspirational or self-improvement books, non-fiction books (namely history, archaeology, spirituality, or the paranormal) and I really love digging into biographies & memoirs.
If any of this sounds like it's right up your alley, I know we'll work well together! Contact me to get started today!
